Frequently asked questions

What is Daggy Jumper Day?

add remove

Held each year on the Wednesday of Homelessness Week, Daggy Jumper Day is a winter campaign by Brisbane Youth Service encouraging schools, workplaces, and communities to wear their daggiest jumpers to support young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Daggy Jumper Day is an easy and visible way for your workplace or community to recognise Homelessness Week, spark meaningful conversations, and take action to support young people across Brisbane.

Why daggy

add remove

Daggy jumpers are warm, nostalgic, expressive, and something most people have tucked away somewhere – making it easy for everyone to take part.

In true Aussie fashion, Daggy Jumper Day embraces the spirit of the dag – being unapologetically yourself, having fun, and showing up for others.

Because while jumpers might be daggy, hope is always in style.

The jumper you wear is entirely up to you. It could be an op shop find, a vintage favourite, a handmade creation, a family hand-me-down, a sentimental piece, or simply the daggiest thing in your wardrobe.

By wearing a daggy jumper, you become part of something bigger – joining schools, workplaces, and communities across Brisbane coming together during Homelessness Week.

How can I get involved?

add remove

To participate, simply register here, start fundraising, and don’t forget to wear your daggy jumper on Wednesday 5 August!

You can register as an individual, team, or organisation. Then, create a fundraising page, share it with your friends, family, colleagues, and network, and collect donations to support young people in need.

Rallying a team is a great way to combine efforts and maximise your fundraising impact. Gather your friends, family, or colleagues, and start fundraising together!

Visit the resources page to download your free school or workplace/community toolkit with fundraising and engagement ideas, plus access ready-to-use materials including communication templates, social media tiles, raffle ticket templates, and activity resources.

Where does the money go?

add remove

All funds raised go towards life-changing programs and services that have a real and lasting impact on the lives of young people (aged 12 to 25 years) experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

This includes crisis and transitional housing, early intervention and prevention programs, emergency relief, physical and mental health services, alcohol and drug interventions, specialist domestic and family violence support, and specialised programs for young women and families.

Do I have to wear a daggy jumper to participate?

add remove

While wearing a daggy jumper is part of the fun, it’s not essential. The most important thing is coming together to raise awareness and support young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

If a jumper’s not your thing, there are plenty of other ways to take part – you can share information about the campaign, start conversations, get others involved, or make a donation.

How long does the campaign run?

add remove

The campaign runs from early July to 5 August 2026. Make sure to register early and start your fundraising efforts to make the most impact.

Can we choose to a different date to take part in Daggy Jumper Day?

add remove

Yes. Wednesday 5 August is the official Daggy Jumper Day, but if this date does not suit, you are welcome to take part on another day during Homelessness Week (3-9 August).

How can I promote my involvement / fundraising efforts?

add remove

You can promote your involvement and fundraising efforts through social media, email, and word of mouth. Share your story, post photos in your daggy jumper, and use the campaign hashtags #DaggyJumperDay, #HopeIsAlwaysInStyle, and #HomelessnessActionNow to spread the word. Be sure to tag @brisyouth on Facebook and Instagram, and @Brisbane-Youth-Service on LinkedIn!

Visit the resources page to download your free school or workplace/community toolkit with fundraising and engagement ideas and simple ways to get involved. Can you come and visit our school or workplace for a presentation?

add remove

While we'd love to be part of your event, our teams are busy supporting young people. As many Daggy Jumper Day events happen around the same time, we aren’t able to attend in person.

To help, we’ve put together a Canva presentation template so you can spread the word about Daggy Jumper Day and Brisbane Youth Service.
