Frequently asked questions

What is Daggy Jumper Day?

add remove

Daggy Jumper Day started in 2013 and has grown into one of Brisbane Youth Service’s biggest annual campaigns. Raising more than $150,000 over the past 11 years, the campaign also serves an important purpose in encouraging the community to come together to raise awareness of the escalating youth homelessness crisis and the many challenges facing our most vulnerable young people and young families.

During Homelessness Week (5-11 August 2024) each year, Brisbane Youth Service calls on our supporters and the community to wear their most daggy and unfashionable jumpers, raise funds in support of the cause, and show that youth homelessness matters to them.

It's a fun and impactful way to make a difference while bringing attention to an important cause.

How can I get involved?

add remove

To participate, simply register here, start fundraising, and don’t forget to wear your daggy jumper on Wednesday, 7 August!

You can register as an individual, team, or organisation. Then, create a fundraising page, share it with your friends, family, colleagues, and network, and collect donations to support young people in need.

Rallying a team is a great way to combine efforts and maximise your fundraising impact. Gather your friends, family, or colleagues, and start fundraising together!

Where does the money go?

add remove

All funds raised go towards life-changing programs and services that have a real and lasting impact on the lives of young people (aged 12-25 years) experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

This includes crisis and transitional housing, emergency relief, physical and mental health services, alcohol and drug interventions, domestic and family violence support, and specialised programs for young women and families.

Do I have to wear a daggy jumper to participate?

add remove

While wearing a daggy jumper is part of the fun, it's not mandatory. The most important thing is to raise awareness and funds for some of the most vulnerable young people in our community. If you prefer, you can participate in other ways, such as sharing information about the campaign or making a donation.

How long does the campaign run?

add remove

The campaign runs from 4 July to 7 August 2024. Make sure to register early and start your fundraising efforts to make the most impact.

How can I promote my involvement / fundraising efforts?

You can promote your involvement and fundraising efforts through social media, email, and word of mouth. Share your story, post photos in your daggy jumper, and use the campaign hashtags #DaggyJumperDay and #EndYouthHomelessness to spread the word. We have also developed several helpful and engaging downloadable resources to help you get started. These include posters, social media tiles/graphics, facts and statistics, a PowerPoint presentation, and an ‘About Us’ video.
